ABOUT Cyber IA & ML Program
The Cyber Information Assurance and Machine Learning Program provides an opportunity for students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Institutions (HBCU/MI) to participate in research at a Department of the Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer.
The goals of the Cyber IA & ML Program are to encourage participating students to pursue cyber careers and to further education via mentoring by laboratory personnel. Their participation in research efforts makes them aware of Naval Science and Technology (S&T) which can lead to employment with the Department of the Navy.
The Cyber IA & ML Program provides a unique mentoring experience along with competitive research internships where students spend 10 weeks during the summer conducting cyber research at Department of the Navy laboratories.
COVID Update
The Department of the Navy remains committed to providing enriching internship opportunities. We are currently planning next summer as an in-person program, but students should be aware that the program may be shifted to a virtual/remote program at any time between now and summer 2023.
We are actively monitoring the developing situation surrounding the spread of COVID-19. There is a chance that the lab that selected an intern may not be able to participate in a virtual/remote setting. If that becomes the case, the intern will be contacted to review alternatives. We appreciate flexibility and understanding during this time. We look forward to reviewing applications.
